The UN Country Team is composed of representatives of the UN funds and programmes, specialized agencies, and other UN entities accredited in Georgia.
The UNCT is chaired by the UN Resident Coordinator. It meets once every two weeks to share information, strategize and coordinate the work of the team. The UNCT oversees and evaluates the work of UN coordination and theme groups. The elaboration of joint UN initiatives, as well as a common UN position regarding specific issues also takes place at UNCT meetings.
Organization of the UN strategic priority setting and planning exercises such as the elaboration of the UNDAF and its monitoring and evaluation constitute primary items on the UNCT's agenda. The UNCT strives to strengthen the coherence of the UN's work in the country and better align it with Georgia's priorities. Demonstrating progress towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals is the overarching goal of UNCT's work. In this process, along with the internationally agreed UN values and principles, the UNCT is guided by the principles outlined in the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness.
