The Government of Georgia and the Disaster Management Country Team sign a Memorandum of UnderstandingBack

On 16 August 2018, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Government of Georgia and the Disaster Management Country Team (DMCT).

At the signing, Mr. Niels Scott, the UN Resident Coordinator and the Chairperson of the DMCT said that ‘Our collaboration stated under the MoU is critical as it lays the ground for our joint action positioned and mandated to work across sectors and responding to people’s needs by articulating the nexus between humanitarian and development assistance’.

Mr. Shalva Khutsishvili, the Acting Head of Emergency Management Service, signed the MoU on behalf of the Government. According to him, the MoU will simplify the mobilisation of international humanitarian aid. ‘In case of need, the MoU will be instrumental for the Government of Georgia for mobilisation and coordination of international humanitarian support, including the search and rescue operations’, said Mr. Khutsishvili.
